Recently, i was taken on a trip to see the battlefields and war graves in northern France and Belgium. Whilst i was here, it wasn't the number of graves that were there but the number of graves simply marked 'known unto God' that touched me the most. These brave soldiers who were lost forever. This experience inspired me to write a poem from the point of view from someone else; someone that was there for every battle but was never acknowledged. The Battlefield.
