When Izuku was only a month old, his mother's affair shattered their family. His father divorced her and eventually moved to the United States for business when Izuku was seven - but not before losing custody of the boy he still loved. Left behind, Izuku grew up enduring relentless mental and physical abuse at the hands of his mother and her new family. Everything changes the day his quirk awakens - triggered during one of his "punishments." With new power and a burning resolve, Izuku begins to rewrite his destiny. As he rises from the cruelty that shaped him, he sets out to change not only his own life, but the lives of those around him. Life's been cruel to Izuku Midoriya. After having to bury his wife and daughter, his only other child gets put into a quirk-induced coma that they can't wake her up from. He shuts down, ignoring the outside world, refusing to let anyone in. He's terrified of the consequences it could bring if other people entered his life. The only person he can't push away is Bakugo. No matter how hard he tries, Bakugo keeps coming back, just trying to make sure Midoriya stays alive. When Bakugo's had enough, he forces Midoriya out of his bed and tries to help him through the pain.
