You always skipped second block. You had no reason to attend; it was basically a filler class for you. You sat on a stack of old pallets behind the school with the agriculture teacher's cat, reading or playing on your phone or talking with online friends until the bell rang and you dragged back inside for crew. It was lonely, but you didn't mind. 
Until, one day, when a classmate from third block joined you on top of the pallets. After that visit, you started noticing the loneliness quite a bit more.
