In a world where deities and spirits still meddle with mortal life, an immortal demigod has to save himself from being beheaded as a cult's sacrifice to their goddess.

It's easier said than done with the cult in question constantly breathing down his neck at ever turn. In a sprawling metropolitan city where the cult of the Scions of the Scorcher reigns unchecked, all-powerful and omnipresent, escape seems impossible without a little divine intervention.

And for a demigod like Ace, divine intervention would be the last thing he'd ever want, dead or alive.

A mythological urban fantasy with a fictional mythology based off Greco-Roman mythologies.

**REVISING** The gods have no pity for humans and their impermanence. Why would they care for lives measured in years, when time marches into millennia for them? The immortals stay in their city. The humans remain in their parts of the world. That is until a human terrorist group gains control over the Goddess of Death, forcing her to kill their enemies and increase their power. All immortals keep their backs turned on humanity. Except Samil, the God of Festivals and the Arts. Samil knows he isn't very powerful among his kind. Or important. Or confident. Yet, when he learns that the humans are desperate, he chooses to do a deceptively simple thing: Help them. ___________________________________ @Voyageavecmoi was kind enough to write this review of my book and she described it 100x better than I ever could lol. With her permission, I'm posting it below. Also, check out her book "Flight Risk." It's a sweet and deep romance about two characters negotiating their feelings for each other while life is doing everything to tear them apart. The characters have such mature conversations and, there's no reliance on the miscommunication trope at all. I'm *obsessed.* If you enjoy intriguing fantasy novels with deep and thoughtful themes, check out 'The Gifts of Mortality' by @eleanorkennedy14 . It explores the concept of mortality and how it gives life meaning through the eyes of both gods and humans. The story follows Samil, the god of the Festivals and the Arts, who is shocked by the apathy of his fellow gods when a human terrorist group gains control over the Goddess of Death. Despite finding no support among his kind, he's determined to help the humans, which sets him down an interesting course. There are lots of great twists in this novel, and I also loved seeing how queerness was worked in throughout both the immortal and mortal realms. Samil is a sweet and refreshing character to root for who is determined to see the good in the world.

Cold seeps into my bones as I wander the dark forest before me; the frigid air from the mountains enveloping me in a tight, chilling grip. Shadows dance across the ground as the light of the moon shines downward through the swaying treetops. Leaves and sticks crunch beneath my feet as I continue to wander forward; my body instinctively hiking up a small slope to my right. My mind is numb, confused, anxious. What is this place? Where am I going? How did I get here? Ascending the slope, the trees eventually reveal a small meadow. Moonlight reflects off the dew of the grass, creating a soft silver glow. In the distance, I see a small circle, made of what appears to be field stones. A sense of coming home blended with deep trepidation and fear spreads throughout my being. My body continues forward against my will, leading me towards the center pillars. The sudden scent of pine, moss and . . . cedar. . . begin to set my mind at ease; its intoxicating fragrance fills my nostrils. "Closer, a whisper fills my mind. Closer. Do not be afraid, lost one. Closer." That voice? I know that voice but from where? Where am I? more importantly, Why can't I remember? I know you exist. It's been 14 years still I have not found you. My dream shows me you do exist mate. But where are you? The time to complete my promise is coming. My OBSESSIVE SEARCH has slowly turned me into a psychotic Alpha......and still........ WAIT!...... THAT SCENT!!! It's YOU!!! I found you!! I feel my heart pounding so hard in my chest, its close to exploding. yet before my obsession envelops me there is a moment of clarity "At last, I found you." and my thought changes. Deadly is my intent "Goddess HELP ANYONE WHO STANDS IN MY WAY!!!" Two Wulves, one lost in his mind, another losing his heart. Has the Goddess finally breathed peace to both? Uniting a forgotten world granting peace to a bitter heart? Only she knows.
