Adelaide is an aeteri, a supernatural being born to obtain powerful abilities that will help her fight whatever enemies stand in her way, only problem is, she doesn't have her powers yet.

All her life she has trained beside some of the most powerful people that ever walked the earth, waiting for the day she receives her gifts. When she was four, her parents were killed by rogue agents that used to work for an organization run by a cruel director, but was found by a telepath named Xavier who raised her as his own.

Adelaide always felt like she didn't belong, she couldn't do the things her friends could, she didn't see how she could play such a big part in a plan to help defeat an enemy that will soon arrive to destroy all life as she knows it when she's powerless.

It was just like any other first day of summer, getting settled in at the S.F.S.B while self-doubt and concerns about her future flooded her mind when she ran into someone she never expected to, her mate. His past is a secret, but she's keeping things from him too. When she looks into his eyes, she finally feels like she belongs and it's a feeling she won't give up so easily.

Things start to take a turn and once again the supernaturals have a new enemy that no one expected and before she knows it Adelaide is right in the middle of all the danger with her mate which results in a terrifying outcome for them both.

The future is calling and with time running out for her and her people, she won't waste a second in trying to figure out this mystery man no matter the risk even in the predicament they find themselves in. He is hiding something big, something important, something dark but then again, aren't we all?

"There is a reason we all follow you. Not because you're the greatest leader, but because you know you're not. You make mistakes, you learn and you love. There is a war inside you that is beautifully controlled, but now, it's time to set it free. You are not just anybody, you are a fighter, a friend, a leader. . . tell me who you are." Suddenly, newfound confidence washed over me, my shoulders straightened, a smile spread across my lips and I answered, "I am Athena." ---------- Freed from an institute that used people like her for their own selfish gain, Athena took it upon herself to reinvent the place that once brought her so much pain and suffering. She is now the leader of this new Aeterian facility, taking in powered people like her, growing in numbers and trying to live the way they've wanted to for so many years, but as usual, nothing great lasts forever.
