short story going into a bit more detail with Cato and Cidae's meeting and their friendship.
"I don't have a family anymore"
"Yeah, me neither,"
"will you be my family?"
In which Cato finds himself the unofficial surrogate father for a young and all but feral Mandalorian.
This is a short story based off of my other fic ICARUS (though set before that story begins) and uses those characters and story. Obviously this can be read separately, but it would make more sense with context.
set before Season 1 of The Mandalorian

Obviously I don't own Star Wars, if I did you can bet there'd be hell of a lot more openly LGBTQ+ characters (come on disney, a blink-and-you-miss-it kiss between a same sex couple is the best you can do? Fight me)
ANYWAYS Star Wars and The Mandalorian characters and plots all belong to their respective creators, writers, and creative teams, I only lay claim to my original characters and story lines.
As per usual, I have this story marked as 'mature' for language.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
OR
Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
