Her sister has just passed away due to a heart attack.

Madeline is fustrated with her sisters time being death and starts to drink way more then she should.

She comes to New York and meets a certain man. He fustrated her for his love for himself, but he grows on her. She finds him and his love for chess interesting. 

Madeline loves chess herself, but is not as good as her new friend Benny.

While her trip to New York he seems to develop a feeling for her.
