Hoshimori "Akko" Akio is a teenage girl whose life has always revolved around her family. Born in a religious family from Kyoto, she has been taught that quirks are gifts from the stars. And she wants to use hers to save the world.
When she moves to Musutafu to enroll into U.A, Akko is suddenly thrown into the violent world of a pro-hero where the strongest rule and the weak claw at their feet. Truthfully, she doesn't understand why violence is synonymous to protection in today's society. Perhaps all her time idolizing activists and environmental organizations instead of individuals have left her unimpressed with the hero industry. All her life, she has been taught to value the collective, her family's cluster. Now, Aizawa-sensei asks her to prioritize her individuality.
Her versatile quirk - called Star - which makes her glow at all hours of the day and stain everything she touches with pure light, is powerful, but useless if she holds back. Akko has the bad habit of doing that.
Toing the line between weakness and strength, Akko must fight for her ideal of heroism.
Not all heroes wear capes. Will she?
