Internet fads were nothing unusual, from light-hearted videos to scary stories you wished you didn't listen to, the world wide web was as regular as it could be from a glance. It was just as regular to find (Y/N) scrolling the endless pages, trying to soak as much of it in as possible, especially when it came to all things horror. (Y/N) relished in the possibility of anything otherworldly intertwining with her tangible reality. So who's to say the post she read about a sentient AI bot wasn't true? And who will stop her from clicking the link to test it herself? A simple click can quickly give you more than you bargained for. A BEN Drowned slowburn. GAME OVER (BEN Drowned x Reader)
Y/N has never truly lived in the waking world. Born with the ability to walk through the dreams of others, she spends her nights wandering through strangers' fears, desires, and hidden memories. Reality feels thin, distant - like a place she's only visiting. Emotions are puzzles she cannot solve. Sadness, anger, love - she watches them in others, but cannot touch them herself. Her closest connection is Liu, a soft-spoken classmate who always seems to watch her too closely, who answers her absent-minded questions about what it means to feel. Y/N doesn't know his secret - that beneath his gentle smile lies the fractured, dangerous soul of Homicidal Liu. But her quiet, drifting existence begins to unravel the night she buys a worn, unlabeled cartridge at a flea market. It loads Majora's Mask, but the game isn't right. There's no music. No title screen. Only Link's empty eyes, staring back at her - and the name: BEN. Soon, the game begins to speak to her. To follow her. BEN's presence creeps into her devices, her room, her borrowed dreams. But instead of terror, BEN finds fascination. Y/N is unlike anyone he's ever haunted - untethered, unreadable, unreachable.
