Skyler was a very skilled human being, even though she wasn't really a human, when she was arrested for murder the fbi cut her a deal, she could continue doing what makes her happy (Fighting and using her skills) but with the bau team, she would be helping them fight crime and put away bad people while still having the chance to see a bit of blood here and there and maybe even kill a unsub.
