One side is to the people who is called "Aloids" who are pure people of Rosewalt for some to say and the other side is for the people who were rejected called "Souls" they refer to the people who were Aloids but have a mix in their culture. 

In the pure blooded eyes , it looked like the Souls who did the incident and the pure were the victims. The nation king does not control the nation anymore but the people itself, they have become independent and selfish but the king does not stop there , he take a step forward to help the ones in need. 

The people of Rosewalt cannot take another turn into the future with two sides so , Akira swears in his heart that he will find a way with a help with a friend , a stranger , an enemy and even .. he's own personality. I took a couple liberties with events and the Timeline, but overall, I stayed fairly close to the original game's story.
