Miho Wistaria is the second daughter of Shirayuki and Zen. She is well-renowned for her beauty, especially her ankle-length strawberry pink hair. But Miho has earned the nickname Doll Princess because she's been mute and has a rare form of self-imposed facial paralysis that's left her unable to express emotion for most of her life. Miho wants to change, but she can't do it alone.

That's where Aoi Fujimiya comes into play. He's a prince, sure, but no Prince Charming. Aoi is known as Demon for his blood-red eyes. His uncle killed his father and took the throne; now Aoi is next on the hit list. Forced to flee for his life and leave his empire in the hands of a war-crazed murderer, Aoi wants to take back everything he's lost. And he needs help.

Aoi and Miho meet while running away from their problems. Neither wants to run away anymore, so they agree to help each other: Aoi will help Miho ditch the flat affect and Miho will join Aoi in starting a civil war to take back his rightful place as emperor.
