He came closer to me and I ran to the only place I could run too, my bedroom. I locked the door behind me hopefully to slow him down. While searching for my valuables, a constant bang on the door motivated me to move faster.
"Open up baby! I'm coming in eventually!"
The drumming of his fists on the door grew louder.
I opened the window to the fire escape and began to worry about where I was going.
Maybe talking to myself would bring me more courage.
"Just climb, everything will be alright."
His angered voice started yelling my name.
I almost forgot how to breathe.
"JOHN! JOHN! Please open up!" I was surprised the amount of force I was using to pound the window wasn't enough to break it.
"Alice?"
"Oh my God! Please help me. This time, it's unforgivable."
I burst into tears as he pulled me into his arms. Stepping away for a moment he stuffed some clothes into a bag, grabbed a large case and some keys.
"Let's get you down to my car. We're leaving."
