Growing up, Taehyung had always been told about the dangers of going out past 12am. The words were practically ingrained in his mind by the time he reached the age of 18. He always listened though, never venturing out after midnight. He never really knew the reason behind those words. But he would soon. In time, he'd come to know the actual dangers of being alone, outside at night. He'd come to be aware of the things that lurk in the shadows, waiting for easy prey. And god was Taehyung the easiest.

"You didn't have to go, Tae. Everything would have been different." "I know." "We could have fought this together, I would have helped you!" Taehyung looked up at Jungkook, vaguely noticing his darkening and blurring eyesight. He gave a smile, but his next breath in was gurgled and he coughed up blood. Jungkook held his hand tightly, looking around panicked for help and Taehyung thought to himself that dying didn't look so bad if Jungkook's face, and the touch of his hand were his last memories in this life. - Six years ago, in the dead of night, idol V turned his back on the world and Kim Taehyung disappeared without a trace. He felt behind confused and concerned fans of his music, but shattered the hearts of his six brothers. None more than Jungkook. Taehyung has returned and he's sworn to himself that he won't run and hide anymore. He's going to face his demons, the monsters at his back, and stare straight down the barrel of the gun at his face. He's not the same panicked boy he was when he left. But six years have changed him and Taehyung's masks are so well ingrained he struggles to reconcile what he has to do with who he wants to be with what he truly wants.
