Rose Hayda has always been an outsider. Odd and weird, but fun once you get to know her, not that anyone ever wants to. Her family life is less than ideal; her mother left when she was five, she has an alcoholic father, a sister who hates her guts, and a brother who's barely in the picture. Her whole day consists of going to school, being treated like shit or avoided like the plague, then going home and getting treated worse by her father and sister.

Jackson Carpiniello has always been loved. With a rich father and mother, a beautiful mansion, and everything he could ever want, it's not hard to see why he is the town's favourite. He is the cherished star football player, the hottest guy in school, and has a perfect family to go with it.

Jackson never paid any mind to the girl who everyone stayed away from, but when he hears something never meant for his ears, it gets increasingly harder to ignore the girl everyone says is so awful. Jackson soon learns the truth, that you can never know what is truly going on behind closed doors, and that not every family is as perfect as his own.
