Rose Hayda has always been an outsider. Odd and weird, but fun once you get to know her, not that anyone ever wants to. Her family life is less than ideal; her mother left when she was five, she has an alcoholic father, a sister who hates her guts, and a brother who's barely in the picture. Her whole day consists of going to school, being treated like shit or avoided like the plague, then going home and getting treated worse by her father and sister.

Jackson Carpiniello has always been loved. With a rich father and mother, a beautiful mansion, and everything he could ever want, it's not hard to see why he is the town's favourite. He is the cherished star football player, the hottest guy in school, and has a perfect family to go with it.

Jackson never paid any mind to the girl who everyone stayed away from, but when he hears something never meant for his ears, it gets increasingly harder to ignore the girl everyone says is so awful. Jackson soon learns the truth, that you can never know what is truly going on behind closed doors, and that not every family is as perfect as his own.

"I'm the sexy guy in school, and all the ladies want me. So don't act like you don't. And try not to make it seem like a surprise Princess because you just may want me a little more then they do," He grins. Why? Because he knows that all the crap that dribbled out of his mouth was so honest and truthful. Like Totally. Welcome to Adrianna Pike's world, where she lives such a normal high school life. She isn't the most popular girl in school but she is known to the population. A junior in North Lakeview and just trying to make it to her senior year with no problems. Then Colton Knight comes moving into her life, literally! All it took was a single bump in the hallway due to one of his numerous sexual encounters and it felt like they were joined at the hip. Not literally though.... that was until the Knight family decided to move two houses down from Adrianna's. Just peachy! Now what happens when the two people who just can't stand eachother are forced to cooperate due to their parents old friendships? Dinners, unwanted hangouts, and those late-night conversations up and down the street that leave them sleepwalking in school the next day? It doesn't sound like an entirely bad thing right? It is when you think you're starting to develop feelings for eachother! Journey with Adrianna through the heartbreaks, love, and learning things in her life that she never thought she needed to know. Katelyn has been in and out of the foster system since her mother died when she was young. After her father gets put in jail again, she gets sent to live with the Thomas family. The Thomas's are a very well-off family with four boys. Their house is usually the main hangout for the boys and their friends. Kate hasn't ever lived with siblings before, let alone this many boys, so it's a big change for her. Daniel is your typical high school football player; he's got the looks, the muscles, talent, and even the overbearing dad who wants him to go pro. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own. At least not anymore. He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in. How will things change for them over the next year? This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order. Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years. Bonus points for giving Daniel a love interest that was more than just a name.

The Words That Hurt Me

A general rule of thumb for any type of story telling media is to not have more than five main characters. Often, these five are separated into categories, the leader, the smart one, the hothead, the Woman, and finally, the dumb one. While the others are given chances to express their talents and skills in carefully planned arcs, the dumb one is often neglected. No, the dumb one is meant to entertain, he makes a mistake and you are to laugh at it. He is not allowed to have a moment of realization, not given the chance to prove himself, not allowed to be more than the dumb one. A joke. The unwilling jester meant to make his blind peers look smarter, clever, at the expense of his pride and shame. Michelangelo, youngest ninja turtle, is Doing Just Fine. He means it. The teasing words of his brothers doesn't feel like scalding water against his skin, thank you very much. He Doesn't feel hurt when they brush him off as childish and immature, when they refuse to listen. And he Absolutely Does Not need any help because he doesn't have any problems. He doesn't feel bad. He doesn't really feel anything at all. Mikey can't exactly say there's anything wrong when he can't identify it, but how can he ignore his inner world falling to pieces and his mental health declining? Well, apparently the kid on the computer can relate to that.
