My body instantly froze at his words, a harsh breath leaving me. "Don't- don't ask me that." I whispered, almost inaudibly as I moved my eyes down to my hands, watching my fingers twist the rings.
I could feel myself getting stuck in my thoughts again, the drugs making it harder than it usually was, being grateful that I took them this morning.
I could see him suddenly stand up in my peripheral vision. I sucked in a shaky breath as he made his way over to me. I sunk back into my chair, curling up into a ball as I felt myself beginning to shake. I shielded myself from being hurt, something by body naturally does now.
