Now switching schools in the middle of September and having to break up with her boyfriend Peter because of it wasn't on Cassandra Higgins's bucket list, but she could totally cross it off now as her sister had convinced her mother to move across the country to California for god knows what.

Unhappy about transferring schools, she tries to make the best of it at Liberty High, making new friends along the way. She also meets a boy in her new school, Justin Foley. The two develop a flirtatious and bickering type of friendship. This new friendship sparks some jealousy in her friend Hannah Baker who used to date said jock. She left him thinking he was way too clingy, but once she sees him and Cassandra her feeling start bubbling back up.

Not wanting to upset Hannah, Cassandra calls things off with her almost boyfriend. But fate keeps pulling them together. And Hannah keeps trying to pull them apart. :)
