Ophelia Liana was a smart girl. She grew up in Brooklyn, as did her two best friends Steve Rogers and James Buchanan Barnes. However, James and Ophelia were more than just best friends, they were in love and had been since they were young. 

Ophelia was the only person in the world who called James James. To the rest of the world he was known as "Bucky." With the war raging across the seas, James Barnes got drafted and was to report for duty with the 107th infantry.

His life, however, got turned upside down when his unit was captured by a nazi organization known as Hydra. He'd been experimented on by none other then Doctor Arnim Zola. It is thought that was the reason he survived the fall and back into the clutches of Hydra.

Ophelia was sought out by a German scientist Doctor Erskine because he needed a test subject to perfect the super soldier serum. It worked almost too well and she was sent to the battlefield along with the rest of the Howling Commandos. 

Ophelia was the only female howling commando and she was one of the two to give their life in service.

However, countless bodies recovered in the wreckage were taken by HYDRA to use for scientific and medicinal purposes. Of the bodies found, a young woman, identified by her mother as Ophelia Kairos, was taken to a mortuary where her remains were cremated. Only, this was a cover up ordered by Johann Schmidt, to experiment on the peculiar woman who called herself "Daughter of Time". Ophelia Kairos, or 001, was moved to Bavaria, Germany as she arose from her death. Project 001 surfaced and was known only amongst the elite members of HYDRA. Ξ Θ Ξ Ophelia Kairos cares only for herself and no one else. Or so it seems. The kidnapping of Joana Kegley served no greater purpose than to help break in their newest experiment. It wasn't until Hydra fell and she was still locked away, somewhere in the deep pits of some underground facility, that she realized how much the world had changed. Bucky Barnes remembered very little outside his own name, but he remembered a girl.
