She has the most useless superpower in a world full of amazing superpowered humans.
She's a laughingstock, the butt of others jokes.
That is until she starts using her power for her own purposes... no one is laughing now.

~

Al has always aspired to be a hero working at the Pillar, a law enforcement agency for Evolved to protect people from supervillains. It was her dream, she'd do anything to be a strong hero that can beat anyone.
However, her Cific is useless - she has the ability to change colors. Which is great for color-coding documents and files; but completely powerless when fighting enemies or saving people from collapsing buildings.
Despite her weakness, she pushed herself and managed to join the Pillar. Her dream job. It was one of the best days of Al's life.

Years later though, she finds herself rotting away in the basement filing papers and mission reports for her coworkers. She's never been on a field assignment and her colleagues think she's a liability. Her boss brushes her off even though Al's a hero and should be saving people. Or, at least assisting others in their missions.
Al knows, if given the chance, she can prove to everyone that she's strong enough to be the best. Maybe even better than Ultra Strike, the greatest Pillar of her time. People say he's next in line to take over the organization when the president resigns. No one looks down on him.

So, when a disaster strikes and Al's precinct is called to action, she decides to ignore orders and, for the first time in her life, be the hero she's always known she could be.

But what happens when she finds herself in over her head and needs another hero to rescue her? What are the consequences of her actions? Can she get stronger and prove to everyone, especially herself, that power is a matter of determination?
How far can Al go before something breaks?

It's no secret that some people use their unique gifts to do good, and some use them to do evil. Your classic heroes and villains, if you will. But what about the middle people? The people born with powers, not the kinds that let you fly, or crush cars with your mind, or turn your enemies into puddles of goo before you, the ones that are not quite considered "super". What are they supposed to do? Their powers aren't strong enough to categorize them as hero or villain. Imagine Knife Man or Spoon Girl with the power to control cutlery, do you honestly think they would hold up in a fight against anyone else? Being a superhero without powers is hard enough, being a superhero with a useless super power is damn impossible. Andrew, Carter, and Heather knew that their unique abilities would be worthless if they made themselves full time heroes or villains. Instead, they use their "uselessness" to their advantage. The trio makes their living in their own respected fields, but they come together as the best band of thieves in the world. Nobody would ever suspect three seemingly innocent young adults of 45 high profile theft cases. There is nothing extraordinary about them after all, no crazy hair colors, no fire blasting out of their mouths. It's the perfect cover. When the group steals a valuable, but at the same time worthless, artifact from a museum in Tokyo, they find themselves caught in the crossfire between the National Superhero League and a new super villain on the rise. And since the heroes can't seem to be doing their one job right, the group steps out of the shadows and takes matters into their own hands.

"Her troubled eyes held fire. The kind of fire that was capable of burning me to ash." ***** I grabbed her chin with my free hand, making her look at me. "I hate that I don't know you. I hate not being a part of your life, like I was before." I leaned a little closer, as her intoxicating scent filled my lungs. "Trust me, I can't hate you, no matter how hard I tried." "So you have... " It came out as more of a question than a statement from her as she looked at me with her big blue eyes. "What?" I frowned, dropping my hand from her chin and grabbing her hand, instead. "You have tried hating me then?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. This time it sounded more like a statement than a question. "I have." I sighed, dropping my head in shame. "And it made me lose the most important person in my life." ***** One night. What harm can one night do? It can change lives. Turn best friends into enemies. Turn someone's life upside down. Emily Waters and Ryder Green, were inseparable, joint to the hip, always had each others back and loved each other behind the best friend facade. But one night changed it all. He thinks he has changed for worse but what he doesn't know is that Emily has changed for the worst. Three years later, what if the girl is back, with baggage that she doesn't think anyone could handle? What will happen when they meet? Will the sparks ignite again? WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

{COMPLETED} "now that you've had your fun electrocuting me, would you care to hop in the backseat?" ---------------------------------------------------------- Freak DNA. That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. And when we arrive, we will arrive violently. ___________________________________________ Started: 10.06.15 Finished: 3.17.16

With an anonymous president and hostile community, Veera relishes her moonlit activities as Void, the shadow villain. Emotionally terrorizing her victims in hopes that they change their ways, Veera lives by burying her feelings and being what society wants her to be - teacher by day, vigilante, or villain, as the world calls her - by night. But with every villain, there's a hero and the hero to Veera's villain persona calls himself Spotlight. Their battles could rival the squabbling of a newly married couple, yet both Void and Spotlight are nothing near being a couple. They're strangers, enemies - people on different sides of the law. That changes, though, when a picture with no context is released to the public, sparking a worldwide debate about the relationship between Void and Spotlight. And as if that wasn't bad enough, there's a new hero in town - Infinite. To Void, he's nothing more than another nuisance, but to Spotlight, he's a mystery; an enemy. When havoc falls onto the city and eerily corresponds with Infinite's arrival, Spotlight, and Void have to put all feelings aside to solve the mystery that digs so deep in the past that they may never recover from it. ~*~ Featured on @antiherosgalore "Wicked Women": 12/19/22 Featured on @crime "Like a Woman": 5/28/23 Featured on @superheroes "Anti-Heroes and Awesome Antagoni
