Poison Princess

14 parts Complete

Lycoris Atropa is a young woman whose beauty hides a deadly secret- poison runs through her veins, bringing sickness and death to all unlucky enough to touch her bare skin. As an Esper, a psychic sub-species of human beings who face massive discrimination, such an ability is a curse, one that has brought her much pain and prevented her from experiencing true, unconditional love. Sold off by her parents to the Rouge Fleur Circus at the age of 15, Lycoris is left alone to contend with the intimidating new reality she has been thrust headfirst into. The circus she now calls home is staffed by non-human performers, like demons, faeries, and even other Espers like herself, all led under the control of the vicious ringmaster, Mr. Fleur. Lycoris finds comfort among her eccentric cohorts, taught in the circus arts to take advantage of her inhumanity to create something spectacular. During her time in the Rouge Fleur Circus, Lycoris discovers her talents as an acrobat and comes to understand her fellow performers, each with tragic stories of their own to tell. While balancing her performing life, Lycoris must learn to come to terms with her own nature as an Esper, reconcile with her painful past, and understand what it truly means to have a place in the world.
