The police, convinced they have the killer, have ignored some unusual events that happened the night of the murder, including the disappearance of Angie Phillips, Will's girlfriend. Unable to contact Angie and desperate to stay out of jail, Will reaches out for support in the most unlikely and untrustworthy ally - a New York journalist by the name of Tom Hoke.
