Henriot isn't your ideal 'soon to be leader' of an intense, blood hungry rebellion. He's sweet, gentle, and timid. Yet he's quickly thrust into the responsibilities of uniting the two biggest rebellions: The Red Pawns and the White Pawns in a battle against King Nicolai, a powerhungry king who sacrifices the weak and disabled for not being a use to the kingdom.

With a little help from his newly discovered bloodline, a beautiful woman named Whimburr, and a couple of friends, Henriot begins his journey. On the side he realizes there are much more to the wizards, a disgraced race of beings in the land of Codia, as does he realize just how far King Nicolai is willing to go to keep his throne.
