Lost to the true definition of love, Brie meets Adrian, a man daring enough to love her though he knows it may not end well. She falls hard for him, her reality of love far greater than her fantasies, but when a familiar pain resurfaces in paradise, and she feels like she may be walking down memory lane, will she have it in her to fight? Or is the fear of going through anything that resembles her childhood greater than her dream to finally find love?

Love meets reality in this epic novel.

"Excuse me, you seem lost in thought. Did you want to buy something or do I need to direct you home again?"

"What?"

She laughs, "It was a joke, Jeez. The last time you were in here you seemed like you had a sense of humor. Where'd that go?"

"I have this neighbor who basically sucks the life and humor out of people. Unfortunately, I am a recent victim."

"I know how that feels, trust me. I have one in my life too."

"Anyway, what can I do for you Mr. ..."

"Please call me Adrian."

"Okay Adrian, what can I do for you today?"

"Actually, I was passing by, and I thought I should say thank you for the other day."

"That's nice, but you didn't have to. I didn't really do anything a human being wouldn't."

"Hey, don't sell yourself short. You did a lot for me. If you didn't save my ass, I may have been a missing person by now, or worse that guy on the news they keep saying is nowhere to be found."

"How can I argue when you mentioned the guy on the news. The news never lies, and I'm sure you don't either. You're right, I should be thanked for saving a life."

"Not just A life, but many lives. Think of my poor mother and my friends and family. How would they live without me, huh?"

"You're right, I saved a generation that day."

We're both laughing very hard and it feels just right. Talking to her was easy.

Madeline found the note in her locker. Neatly folded, it held a pair of razor blades and a set of instructions. "Just die, ugly girl. No one will miss you." She doesn't know who gave it to her. Or any of the others before it. But she knows one thing: they're right. No one will miss her. Her mother is dead, her dad is more a theory than a parental figure, and her friends are the stick figures she draws in her notebooks. So, when someone she barely knows invites her to the school graduation party, there's no reason for her to go. A girl like her at a party like that? Eating a bowl of live spiders would be a better idea. And yet, she accepts. She goes. She doesn't know what she expects to find there. She doesn't even know why she said yes. Out of desperation? Because she thinks she'll somehow make friends? Prove, somehow, that the razor note is wrong? Whatever her reasons, what she finds is a surprise. And not the one she wants. She's given one more note. And what's written inside this one will make her face the truth she's been hiding from for seven years. And the truth about Madeline Parker will either fix her, and finally make her worthy of being loved, or it will prove that the note with the razors is right. "How could you?" Sofia looked at her husband Hector. "You are overreacting. It's just above you." "I am telling you that a man was... inappropriate to me...he said he wanted to..." Sofia's voice was shaking. "We are all adults here. He has taken a liking to you. Consider yourself lucky. You have no idea where this man can get us. To where this connection can get us..." "I am your wife." Sofia scoffed. "And, I am consenting to this." Hector cut her off. "Hector, don't!" Sofia tried to shut him up, but Hector continued. "It doesn't change anything. Make him happy. He won't be wanting it all the time. He had hundreds of women for him. This will all be over in a month or two. But you can be good friends in the future, and he can be kind to you. And, us! Think where his connections can get us." At first, if Antonio's behavior in the past seemed a problem, now adding her husband's ideas about all this worried Sofia more. It seems the very man she expected to protect her from a predator was ready to throw her to that animal. Sofia recalled how Antonio had always tried to be a gentleman. But there was nothing gentle about his intentions. Only his eyes and direct approach with his words were enough to tell Sofia about it. She could still recall the day when he had told her. "You will warm my bed one day. And, your husband will drive you here that day." At that time, she slapped him, but now it seems he had won. Sofia gulped, looking at Hector. Her Hector couldn't be this blind. It wasn't that simple. She could tell that Antonio had spent a great deal of time brainwashing her husband. Sofia rubbed her cheeks and told her husband off while walking away. "This isn't happening. Not today. Not ever." Sofia accepts a gift card from her neighbor for a spa day. The most mundane day gets her in the way of an obsessive trillionaire, who has only one agenda. If you can't have it, ruin it.
