One year after the events of the defeat of Yaldabaoth, the God of Control, Akira Kurusu, now 18 and a former outcast and leader of the Phantom Thieves, has reverted back to being a normal student. He was framed and put under probation by a crooked politician, but Kurusu gained the ability of Persona to change people's hearts and get back at the politician for wrecking his life, with the help of his friends. Living in his hometown with his parents, Kurusu remembers his days with his fellow outcasts, changing herts and building bonds with them. Thankfully, Morgana, a talking cat created by the man of the Velvet Room, Igor, to assist Kurusu is with him as well. While his parents have an okay, yet distant relationship with Kurusu, and the distance between his friends is large, he still manages to keep in touch with the rest of the Phantom Thieves, missing the good old days with them. In another world, an empire filled with corruption is teetering on the brink of ruin, slowly growing even more disgusting with the Prime Minister's selfish actions. A group of Assassins called Night Raid are rebelling against the Empire, hoping to change it for the better. But the corruption is running deeper in most of the empire, forming extreme distortions that Night Raid can't face themselves. It's time for Joker, Leader of the Phantom Thieves, to return with Mona, this time in a whole new world filled to the brim with distortion and rotten hearts to change in the Metaverse. The former 2nd year Phantom Thieves would finish their 3rd year and graduate becoming legal adults entering into college, that's until there are still more targets to have to change the hearts of.
