Solancei's Memoirs, 'The Funeral'

Diary style snippet written from the POV of the young woman, Solancei, who at a young age loses her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Ivanor, when they are killed under strange circumstances in a fey carriage accident that also claims a dozen other lives.

Solancei has some very intriguing magic skills and is soon taken from the icy province she calls home to live in the capital. Here she grows up to become the secret shield, confident and handmaiden to her cousin, the Crown Princess, Iambre.

But the world is about to change. The new millennium brings to life an old war that will pull both women into the midst of danger.

Solancei's memoirs centre around some of her earliest - and strangest - memories, leading up to the event that brings her to the capital. Her reason for writing them appear to be entirely her own but as the entries stack up, it slowly become apparent why she has been persuaded to write them, and just how important Iambre really is to her.
