Hanahaki Disease.

A sickness that only occurs when someone is suffering from unrequited love. The victim will cough up flower petals that symbolize their love. This disease is only cured when the victim's feelings are romantically returned. The only other way that the disease is cured is surgically, this could rid them of their memories of the one they love, simply remove the love they have for them or remove their ability to ever love anyone again.

A blue delphinium. Cheerfulness, goodwill, joy.

When Juleka and Chloe start coughing up these petals, what are they to do?

Let the seeds grow, vines crawling, climbing up their throat, petals falling from their lips until their inevitable death.
