Mankind in its present state has been around for a quarter of a million years, yet only the last 4,000 have been of any significance.

So, what did we do for nearly 250,000 years? We huddled in caves and around small fires, fearful of the things that we didn't understand. It was more than explaining why the sun came up, it was the mystery of enormous birds with heads of men and rocks that came to life. So we called them 'gods' and 'demons', begged them to spare us, and prayed for salvation.

In time, their numbers dwindled and ours rose. The world began to make more sense when there were fewer things to fear, yet the unexplained can never truly go away, as if the universe demands the absurd and impossible.

Mankind must not go back to hiding in fear. No one else will protect us, and we must stand up for ourselves.

While the rest of mankind dwells in the light, we must stand in the darkness to fight it, contain it, and shield it from the eyes of the public, so that others may live in a sane and normal world.

We secure. We contain. We protect.

Researcher John begins his job working with the SCP foundation, having no clue of the horrors they are hiding. While John is working with this foundation, he learns many things. Some for the better, some for the worse. Whenever an alarm is set off, it's nothing much. That is, until it's much more than just "a pipe burst..." This was a rushed project I had to complete in under 9 months, so it might not be the best storytelling ever. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy! After losing the Foundation's pursuit she accidentally falls into a deeper hole, as another organization attempts to hunt her down. In a world where she doesn't trust anyone aside from her fellow SCPs, who aren't there to save her, she meets someone, who manages to save her from certain death. Knowing humanity's worst side, she is reluctant to accept the help, but is forced to due to the circumstances. Will she manage to trust again? Or is her past going to drag her down? The SCP Foundation had a containment breach, and one of their SCPs managed to escape. Of course, similar things happened in the past multiple times, and O5s were familiar with situations like this. What made this matter an emergency though, was the fact that the escaped object is a keter, and a rather sadistic one. They have to use everything they can to try and find her before she kills anyone. Very quickly however, they realize that finding her is going to take longer than initially expected...
