Ash "Puppy" Gilbert is the young brother in Elena and older brother of Jeremy Gilbert he's the same age of elena just younger by a few months.
At a young age he was given the nickname "puppy" as he has a love for animals, he and Damon Salvatore grew very close when they first met. After the tomb vampires he was found out to not be human but a hybrid .
He is a descendant from the God of animals and a vampire he went away to learn how to control his new found abilities and came back to find out that some big bad was going to sacrifice his big sister.
