Lacewing has her whole life planned out.
She has known her whole life that she will marry Fireworm the day of her seventh hatchingday. She's known that since she was old enough to know what married even meant, and Fireworm was nice enough, but the fiery HiveWing has never loved him as he does her. Still, that didn't matter.
Since day one, Lacewing was taught that obedience was the only way she would ever honour her family, by doing as her parents told her and marrying Fireworm.
And since day one, Lacewing had done what she was told. Because she has a plan, and it will work.
But then one day, she meets Speckle.
And her whole life is flipped upside down.
Because Speckle isn't part of the plan.
Speckle is funny, and beautiful, and kind, and so, so, much better than Fireworm in every way.
But everything Lacewing was ever taught goes against her even talking to Speckle, the only dragon she actually cares about.
Because Speckle is a SilkWing.
And Lacewing is a HiveWing.
And everyone knows that's the worst kind of forbidden.
---------
Speckle is a SilkWing.
That is a fact no one will ever let her forget, because if she forgets that, she'll forget her place, and no one can have that, can they?
She must be obedient, quiet, agreeable, and unnoticeable, waiting on HiveWings her whole life. That is her place.
But Speckle doesn't care about that. She doesn't care about what anyone thinks of her. She is wild, and unruly, and always laughing or making a joke, and she is the opposite of what a proper SilkWing should be.
And then one day, she meets Lacewing.
Colourful, beautiful Lacewing who has no idea how wonderful she is, and is so loyal and sweet it makes Speckles heart warm and her stomach fill with butterflies.
And she might be in love.
But that can't be right, can it?
Because she is a SilkWing.
But maybe she's forgotten that for a moment.
Because her heart isn't listening to reason.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
OR
Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
