But really she covered herself in makeup everyday trying to get rid of her bruises and cuts from the previous night. The truth was her dad abused her. Her mother knew, but knew if the truth got out their reputation would be ruined, so she kept quiet. Betty's siblings moved out as soon as they could so she was all alone in that nightmare house.
