Seventeen-year-old Jay thinks he has his life sussed, except he's just been yanked out of it to live in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly friendless, he resigns himself to six miserable months alone - until Hannah trespasses through his backyard. Hannah isn't sure what to make of Jay. Realistically, she knows a friendship stands no chance. She's built her defences by shutting up, laying low, and pushing everyone away. It's only a matter of time before he realises she is social suicide. When Jay insists on sticking around, Hannah must decide if it's possible to find a balance between opening herself up and keeping her secret locked down. But spilling the truth could spell out an escape. And when it comes to those he cares about, Jay's not one to give up without a fight.
