"Are you sure sweetheart?" Kyle asked, knowing you would had to convert, which was out of question. "I mean, I know your religion is very important to you."
In fact, you wanted to marry him no matter what, after all you were deeplly in love with him. But he had a point, you would never gave up on yours and would love to get married knowing you had the blessing of all of the orishas for your matrimonial life.
"Would you be allowed?" You asked.
"I don't know." Your fiancé replied, which made you a little disheartened.
But then he had an idea, happy and sure you'd like it too.
"What if we had two ceremonies?" He suggested, taking your hands in his.
You gasped, surprise you hadn't thought of that before, it would be amazing.
"I'd love to honey, but is that even allowed?"
"It doesn't matter, we'll figure it out, okay?" Kyle replied, tenderly stroking your cheek with his thumb. "I want you to be happy."
You smiled, feeling your heart melt. So many people have told you that it would be better for you if you married someone who's of the same religion as you.
Luckily you had a different thought, they would never understand that love doesn't choose the day, time, age or religion, it just arrived and changed someone's world, like you two did.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
