Esmerelda remembered waking up feeling her moms boyfriend skimming a finger up and down her leg.... that was the night just before her mother kicked her out. She went from Reno to Vegas at 16, working as a waitress in the casinos under her mothers name, getting picked up by a guy so easily that she should have been ashamed.

One night... high off her ass, a guy came in, told the girls to get dressed in the clothes he brought for them, and he took them across a border and put them into a rehab/women's shelter and she never saw him again. There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him.
