Clove and Cato in the games were only seen as blood thirsty monsters who never had a back story. But is the really what happened? In this story, we will be going back to when they were kids, starting when Cato was 10 and Clove was 8, leading up to the games.
They have created a bet to volunteer for the same games, and may the best come home. But will either? Each day they become stronger, and better. Each having the same amount of strength in different areas.
¨Will we really volunteer?¨ Clove asked, knife in hand, while trying t make eye contact with me, but I just turn away
¨Maybe they were right. What they said when we were younger,¨ I sighed
¨About?¨ She violently asks
¨Maybe we are just born to die.¨

After being adopted, Clove moves into a new house and meets her neighbour, Cato. They instantly become friends and start building a relationship that nearly turns into something more than friends. Everyone knows the story of Katniss, but what about Clove? Told in Clove's POV is her story about her life before the games and the hardships she had to face, only to face the greatest fear of all. Death. DISCLAIMER: This story will follow the book/movie during the games, but this is also one out of the two books about Clove. In my second book I completely re-write the series to fight how I imagine the world of Panem being. Seventy-four years has been long enough. The way of the infamous Hunger Games has been altered. No longer is every Gamemaker out to devise the worst means of torture and death for every tribute. No longer are the people of Panem outwardly tolerant of President Snow's murderous actions. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time. They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names.
