Taking place 70 years after the war against Koschei, 
Prythian has seen almost a century of peace and prosperity. 

The children of the Inner circle have grown and all eyes are on Nyx Archeron, the next High Lord of the Night Court. Nyx, however, has no intention of taking on the role, or any of the responsibility that accompanies it, any time soon. In fact, he'd rather not take it on at all. 
That is, until a certain Valkyrie-in-training waltzes into his life and knocks him down a peg, literally. 

Tate Ilsley has been training her entire life to become worthy of the title of Valkyrie commander, refusing to take a breath for even a moment until she feels like she has proven herself. When Nesta offers her a short cut to achieving everything she's ever dreamed of, she refuses to allow the infuriating and arrogant Nyx to stand in her way. Even if it means dragging him right along with her.
