Crosstown rivals on the basketball court-Kyle, white from the country; Tre, black from the city-become tight off the court. Their respective communities, however, have been at odds since race riots in the late '60s.

The night before they face off in the county championship game, Tre is gunned down.

On game day, Kyle wakes to texts from teammates celebrating their team's good fortune. He lives and breathes basketball, but his passion dies with Tre's last breath. He spends the day of the championship game on a journey through the bigotry of his community, through the memories that shaped his friendship with Tre, and through the streets where Tre's legend will live on. He feels pressure from all sides to play, but how can he? How can Kyle play the biggest game of his life knowing the intolerance of his teammates, family, and community, and knowing the other side is blaming Kyle for Tre's death?

Desire and hate aren't as opposing as people think. They can often mix. Kieran Wayne was a very irritated and moody teenager. He was constantly annoyed by all the attention he was always given, due to his striking beauty. However lately he was been extra annoyed with everyone; with soccer getting serious, modeling taking up more time, and senior year activities. But what was really making him so agitated? Ryan King. Ryan king was a friendly and extroverted person. He loves attention and socializing. Even though he should be thinking of only football, his mind does often trace back Kieran. He has hated Kieran forever. He hates how perfect of a life Kieran seems to have, and he especially loathes how Kieran takes it all for granted. After years of a back and fourth war between the two, their hatred final reaches a max. And a new feeling becomes discovered... desire? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryan had finally realized why Kieran was acting so unusual. Why his hair looked so chaotic. Why he had a deep pink reflecting on his pale skin. Why his eyes were dark and peering through his heavy black eyelashes. Why his breathing was making his whole chest move swiftly up and down. Why his mouth was slightly opened. Why he looked like he was begging for a cavernous desire. All of a sudden there was not even an ounce of hate in Ryan's body. The usual perfect, conceited, model was begging. Or as many would call it ... submitting. This hypnotized Ryan. Ryan wanted to see more of this side from Kieran. He suddenly had the urge to play. He got close to Kieran's ear. With his breath tickling Kieran's skin, he said, "You enjoying this, Wayne?" in a husky voice.

When a white policeman shoots an unarmed black teenager, the faith and strength of two families are shaken and a Midwest inner city community struggles with all-too-familiar tensions. The city's lead investigator strives to control escalating protests, a middle school teacher tries to calm her frightened students, and a pastor sees a rare opportunity for his community's voice to be heard. The victim's friend feels the prison walls of gang and drug-related violence closing in, and the officer suffers under a burden of guilt and shame. But the heaviest decision falls on average-Joe hospital technician George Washington, who finds himself--gun in hand--face to face with the man who killed his son. Background: In 2014, I completed my first National Novel Writing Month challenge--in November, I wrote a novel with 50,000 words. I published the book, but never promoted it. No one wants to pay for something with no idea what they're going to get. So I'm going to post preview chapters. All my books are available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions. What's this book about? When I first committed to writing a novel, I planned on doing one of my fantasy projects. But the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson and the resulting explosion of racial tensions dominated the news. What I saw online frustrated me. I knew that there was more to the story than any one side would likely present. Such complex issues aren't answered by sound bites and 140-character policy statements. I read up on aspects of culture I had no exposure to. I sought perspectives that wouldn't appear on my Facebook feed or regular web browsing. And I devoured some great books by Malcolm Gladwell that address human nature from an analytical angle using racial tensions and the civil rights movement as primary examples. I was amazed, moved, challenged, and inspired. And I knew that though I arguably have no right to say anything on the subject of racial tensions, I had to write this book.

He needs and foes back to his public make out session with the other boy leaving Cali with a look of approval and bewilderment. She clips her hair over her shoulder exposing the skin of her upper back due to the low dip on the back of her dress.
