The second thing the Mikaelson's don't know is she is the strongest thing on this planet the original Tribrid. They all think she was turned by Kol Mikaelson but no she was was the tester to Esther's spell. Esther did it to her before the other's  incase it didn't work. 
Did I fail to mention that  she is Stefan Salvatore's true sire, Yes Katherine does love him but Kayla and Stefan did have a thing  in the 1920's, right before Lexi came to save the day.
