A thousand years ago Earth was engulfed in a war the humanity was doomed to lose even before it started. Giants descended from the skies and rained fire upon the surface of Earth for seven days. Then, they disappeared and from their remains emerged the sea of corruption, spreading foliage of fauna and miasma deadly to everything, everything except the gigantic insects residing in it. 

"I didn't come here to fight, to reign, to command or kill. I just came here to live a quiet, simple life. But I guess that was wishful thinking on my part, after all, this world is already so fucking dead it can't get any worse now, can it? At least, you'd think so... There's still me. I'll make the apocalypse look like heaven. So... run."

In a world like this, there is but one thing people need the most... Hope. Nobody can survive without hope, especially in an even more messed up world than it already was when humans thrived. Legends of saviours originated all across the globe as a way for the dying humanity to retain at least a sliver of hope.

Few survive this, and the people who do, they lose their mind, like they were cursed. You can only gather from them that he was beautiful, his voice was like an angel's, and that when he took you into the ocean, he became a monster. He only hunted young men, women, teens, and the occasional twelve-year old. It was terrifying, because the people had no way to stop him. Every night, someone would go missing, or come back insane. They knew he lived in the ocean, and when people tried to bomb the area where they thought the monster lived, they would either be cursed, or just eaten by the sea monster himself. And the people who came back insane, they would always wander over the fact that the monster had not even a scratch on him. Teens, young men and women would fear for their lives, and lock themselves in their houses at night. But only one person refused to hide, either in bravery or utter stupidity. That person was Will Solace. So basically, this story is based on the cover art of the book. I just thought it was such a great idea and wanted to put it to story. I saw another person do this and they used the same cover art, and I hope you guys like my version! I, personally very much like it and hope you guys do to! (I don't own any of the characters or art work that appears in this fanfic. All of the characters belong to Rick Riordan.)

Without warning it began! The inevitable, I think it's fair to assume this book is not in my possession. This means I'm most likely dead. Most nights I wrestle the reason I have chosen to explain what happened, the things we did to each other, things no human being should witness.
