Elizabeth Richmond has always been left alone by everyone, so she has kept quiet her whole life. her only friends are adults and basically parent-figures. But when Eliza finds out that she is going to spend the summer with an Aunt and Cousin she never met, Eliza hopes she'll finally make a real friend. But then her Aunt Elena sends her and her cousin Valentina to a camp for rich, well behaved girls, Eliza fears this will be the most boring summer ever. For reasons unknown to her, Eliza is everyone's enemy.
But after an accident where Eliza is attacked & injured, she discovers a whole new side of Valentina, and is confident the other girls can be like that too.
Valentina & Eliza become almost like sisters, so when the councillors disappearand the camp might close down, they decide to do something about it. But they can't do it alone. They need to act fast, and then one of them is taken. The other one needs to find it in her to show the other girls that they can do more then be well mannered and posh, they can save the day.
