Alice's hometown, The Compound has been overrun by strange beings called Kairosans. They take on the form of humans to find society's deepest, darkest secrets and fears and use them against them.
There's no way to stop the Kairosans, to distinguish them from normal people, or so The Elders think.
Alice is different, she can see more.

Empire Island, Exile the First
Kairos is the name, just your average magically gifted Guardian running from her problems... Years ago I walked away from my home, Empire Island, and turned my back on my sacred vow to protect its magic. I thought I could enjoy my freedom, but my past has caught up to me. The island is under threat from demon-possessed recruits destroying hallowed land and poisoning the Well Source of magic. I kicked their ass right away, only to discover the threat I never expected to face was behind it all. Demon King Uruk'Zu himself. To make matters worse, my younger sister has gone missing. Caught up in emotion, I kissed the man who has haunted my dreams for years. It was an innocent kiss, or so I thought. Turns out it was a bad idea. Very bad. With that one kiss we woke a centuries-old fated-mate spell that will curse my life if I deny it. I don't know how I'll fight these invaders, protect my island, find my sister, navigate family drama, destroy the Daemon King and handle this whole fated-mate hot-guy thing. A product of NaNoWriMo. Evelyn Moore - daughter of the dreaded Ivy, must flee her past, her mother's lineage, and her village. Ivy was an admired healer, before the illness took over the village. The illness was incurable. Ivy and Evelyn struggled day and night, trying to rescue the sick. All who fall ill end up in a misty graveyard. They are driven to the woods and they build a small hut in the dense forest, barely living from day to day, but peacefully. That is, until the town's leader gathers enough men to track Ivy, and take her back to the village to be burned. Evelyn knows that she'll be next - being the only descendant of Ivy. She packs up her few belongings and gallops deeper and deeper into the woods until her eyelids fall, causing her to lose control of the horse, fall off of it and into a black abyss. When Evelyn wakes up, there are two midnight blue eyes staring back at her. Where is she? How did she get there? Why can't she remember anything? What is her name? Before It Happens
Completed for NaNoWriMo, this story follows a twenty-something-year-old freelance reporter named Ash Pa'krou and his ragtag news crew as they go on a quest to discover exactly what lies behind the strange Unity law firm. Unfortunately, this book will remain indefinitely unfinished. My computer broke earlier this year, and along with a bunch of other important data, I lost the ending of this book. While I can place a summary below, I am unfortunately incapable of bringing myself to rewrite the story. ---- spoilers ---- The book ends with Ash realizing that he is of witch descent. Seraph takes him and Killian hostage. After she makes an attempt at their life, Oswald and Christopher come for them. Christopher is killed in the chaos, and Ash realizes he has no choice but to leave Seraph alive in order to maintain the peace between Nueva and Marn. He returns back to the mainland and discovers that while he had achieved something that belonged in history books, none of them would ever receive credit for it due to corrupted footage. Their plan to become a real news team falls apart, and each of them go their separate ways. Ash realizes that he has fallen for Killian, but, knowing that Killian is straight, decides instead to help Killian find happiness. Oswald and Ash remain good friends, but they realize that they will never be the same people they were Before it Happened.Concluida

My 2008 NANOWRIMO project: The Gray is a 'low' fantasy novel in spite of dragons and magic and horror. Giant spells won't be saving the day, and there's no mighty magic swords, in fact most spells aren't even out there in your face, they're implied. The Gray is set in a lone human city in a world where being human is stranger and and less common than being an elf, or almost anything else. Their community is Isolated, and protected by a a group of trained fighters and scouts with specific roles, who give up their own names when they take on The Gray. Walker, one of the scouts of The Gray, accidentally stumbles across signs that their way of life, and maybe even the world, may be threatened, and is quickly forced to face the fact that trying to save his home and people may require loosing them forever.Concluida

Will is a slut. At least, according to everyone else she is. With a past that both defines her and won't let her go, Will has had enough of the name-calling and assumptions.
