Spirit of The Animal (Bucky Barnes x Reader)

In the old times, there were three genders. There was man, woman, and (the most common among humans) "Androgynous." Men were children of the sun. Women were children of the earth. Androgynous were children of the moon, the merging of sun and earth, and bore both Man and woman parts. We were powerful, both fearless and strong. We rivaled even the gods' powers, threatening them. We told them we would become the new gods. They couldn't kill us or banish us into the deepest parts of the earth, so they separated us. So, for a while, humanity lived in pain and suffering, refusing to eat or drink. That was until Apollo and Artemis couldn't bear to see humanity suffer any longer. While Apollo stitched up humanity into a new form, Artemis gifted each one a spirit animal to help search for their missing half. To this day, humans are born still only bearing half of a soul and thus are still granted an animal companion.

In a world where people usually dream of their soulmate's spirit animal, you'd think it's be easy to find them. For you and Bucky, that doesn't seem to be the case as nightmares of the past plague both of your dreams and kill any chances of you two finding each other. Although, fate has a funny way of ensuring it's preferred outcome.
