A bedtime story for those who crave a little blood and gore with their milk and cookies; Dalton Primeaux's Wood is campy, gory, and terrifying. THE STORY: Over three hundred years ago, an oak tree stood on the edge of a forest. Strapped to the old oak's massive trunk were three humanoid figures masked almost entirely by smoke. A fire crackled around them. The townspeople watched and applauded as the three sisters pleaded and begged for their lives. As soon as the sizzle of the fire was the only thing to be heard, the crowd dispersed. The next morning, the townspeople found the tree intact, and the tethered bodies gone. -- The wood of that old oak tree now stands on an orange rug, in the middle of Henry and Jason's living room, as their coffee table. Primeaux's work evokes not just dread, but also nostalgia. He often draws inspiration from children's horror books but reimagines the tale for an older audience. PRAISE FOR DALTON PRIMEAUX's previous novelette: "The last two chapters kept me on the edge of my seat! A must-read!" "Really interesting story! I enjoyed it!" "This book is well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to more books written by Mr. Primeaux..."

Rhett was introverted. Really introverted. The only person he ever saw was his roommate, Win. So, when he begins to struggle with age regressing unconsciously, Rhett has to bite the bullet and ask the only person he knows for help. Win was easy-going. Compassionate, generous, and curious to the point of endangerment. So, when his roommate is in need of a temporary caregiver, he offers himself without hesitation. After all, how hard could it be to take care of a little?
