To Fly With Destiny

Gabriel is heir to the kingdom Angelis. Some say that those who stand at the top are usually the most alone and Gabriel felt that to be close to true. Every day he was surrounded by people, but most only wanted to be his friend for power, women only wanted to be with him for his position, and he could not even choose his own path. His parents had been pushing him to get married, but since he figured all women who came would be the same he left the planning to his mother. There would be a large banquet/ball and all the eligible women would be invited, from that he was to tell his mother if any of them caught his eye, and she expected some to catch his eye.

Destiny when she was younger always felt that her name was a sign that she was meant for something greater. Her parents doted on her and her mother told her stories of brave women almost daily. All was right in the world until the great war that ravaged not just their kingdom but all those around them. In the first attack, she lost her mother and at that moment a piece of herself. The next attack left her father crippled, unable to fly. She just kept losing and losing. A year after the war was over she thought she could finally get some semblance of her life back but she was wrong. A rainy day brought with it a new stepmother and stepsister. She wanted to be angry at her father, as she felt he was replacing her mother, but she had seen how he struggled alone the past year. So instead of making a scene she had gritted her teeth and welcomed them into their home. Soon she saw how much of a mistake that truly was. A vacant father and a wicked stepmother and sister had her being closer to the girls in the fairytale her mother told her than she ever wanted to be.
