Fantasy genre. First book in the Blooming Rose Series.

Fourteen year old Rose Star Jacobs lives in a in a world called Fantasy. A world where ordinary people live and yet it is normal to see dragons, pegusi, fairies, and other mythical creatures. Rose remembers everything. She remembers that she never knew her mother, and her remaining family is gone, and that she has no friends. Her brother is dead, she ran away from her father, and the one she once believed loved her left her. She refuses to love anyone (except her pet dragon) or to be loved because of her fear of facing the same heartbreak, depression, and sadness she faced in her past. She lives alone,except for the company of her pet dragon, because of her dark past. When Rose's world is overcome by a great evil, she is supposed to save her people. But will her past memories finally take over and destroy her?
