James Whitestone has lived a normal life, and is just a regular boy. Or so he thought. James's life is upended when he sees someone summon a spirit in the church graveyard and a mysterious note appears in his backpack a day later, telling to find something that will change everything. The spirit summoner he saw is Ash, a spiteful and scowling girl with terrifying magic, and her best and only friend is the charming and handsome Florian, whose magic draws James in. Along with all this, James discovers his own magic that connects him with Ash and brings him to the Vanishing Lands to learn in the Shrouded Forest. There he makes friends and enemies, but just when he thought things couldn't get worse, they do. Someone is killing the students and he and his friends work together to find who it is before they're next.

This is not a perfect story, but it's one I want to tell. One that comes from a personal place in my heart and one that is born in reality and bathed in fantasy. This story will deal with aspects of both worlds. And sometimes touch on heavier topics. Be prepared, to read about a character who is the farthest thing from perfect. But he doesn't need to be. He just needs to be himself. Oh, how hard that truly is.
