(X-posted from AO3) Going into heat was nothing new to Amity. She'd gone through the process at least once a year for the past three years. Her first time going through it was hard, which was to be expected as she was only fourteen, but it wasn't completely unbearable. Her parents simply brought her to a room in the manor designed specifically for times like that and she stayed there for the week that it lasted. Fifteen came and went, and Amity had come to terms with the fact that this would be her routine for the foreseeable future. She was okay with that. ...Then the human came.
