Joe was just trying to get to the bar to meet up with some friends for a beer when he came across what he thought was a mugging, and tried to play good Samaritan to a woman being surrounded by a group of men with clear violence in mind.
Instead he finds finds himself needing saved, and everything he thought he knew about his friends, even his family, yanked out from under him as he drops straight into a world where Vampires, and possibly even other things that bump in the night are dangerously real, and not even the greatest threat he finds himself facing, just for having had an unexpected glimpse into a dark world with some real teeth.

Updated Editors Note: This run at the story is currently -on hold-. I feel as though it may have become too rambly and I'm not sure if it's worth fixing, so I am redrafting.
Editors Note: 4/6/17- OK so maybe I lied. I am rereading and trying to tweak a little since this was the older and apparently more popular version of the story, and maybe worth fixing. I'm going chapter by chapter to get familiar again and then I'll try and keep going after I finish making changes.
- I have changed stuff up to Guest pt 2 and am working from there. Please tell me if you see glaring typos or punctuation problems, because I'll probably miss them.

Just Some Old Campfire Story
~My mind finally started to relax, and I could feel my mattress contour to my extremely exhausted muscles, slowly slipping into a peaceful sleep. Buzz, Buzz. I groaned, my muscles protesting as I rolled over onto my side and reached for my phone. "All I want to do is sleep. Just a few hours of sleep, is that too much to ask?" I muttered while trying to squint away the blinding light, scanning the notification glowing on my screen. "Yo you gotta check this out" -Ollie~ Sawyer's best friend, Ollie, is always in the lookout for an easy way to make money. It seems that the perfect opportunity seems to fall at his feet, presenting itself on a golden platter. Sawyer chases after his dim witted friend, his goal to stop him from making a huge mistake. After all, what kind of an idiot takes a deal from a sketchy guy online? Ollie, apparently, because Sawyer has to chase him all the way to the docks where they are to be boated to the woods, where they would be spending the night for a chance at $500,000 each for making it through the night. What could possibly go wrong? But most importantly, will Sawyer, Ollie and their two new friends make it through the night unscathed? IMPORTANT Author's note: I know this book only has 1 part but it is finished! It just has like...80 something pages...so yay...it's long. This was originally intended to be a series of short stories with random topics ranging from action to horror to romance, but then I decided I was making them separate books of their own. So when I wrote this is was supposed to be one part of an entire book so I didn't make it into chapters. I can't be bothered to go back through and dice it up into a bunch of short chapters either so please read and enjoy! After escaping their breaking family, the Simons. They set off on a journey of freedom, away from the clutches of their parents. As the years go by, in the shitty city they live in with a flawed hero system, they've decided to help those in need in the poorer parts of the city. ALEX is a pessimist. With good reason. His whole life has consisted of grief, pain and hardship, including occasional glimmers of happiness. But when happiness comes, it quickly fades, leaving an empty void in its place. Alex knows this, and he won't be fooled into thinking otherwise. Or will he? LUNA needs a better job. Being a trapeze artist may hide her from the government, but it's not so fun when the manager is a raving lunatic and there's likely to be a crazed pervert in the crowd. So when the big top gets demolished- literally- Luna sees it as a ticket to freedom (contracts are generally void once a business has been destroyed). What she doesn't see are the doors to her past creaking open, and their contents coming to haunt her. ZACH is normal...ish. As normal as a Gifted kid can be. His brand of normalcy includes a kickass grandma, childhood trauma and your everyday run of the mill dragon, but hey, he's not as insane as the others. Really, Zach is thirsting for adventure.
