I live alone. Nothing about me is interesting. I work as an office worker for a bloodsucking company. I have no motivation whatsoever. Like predecessors before me, I function as a tool for rich people to enslave. Not that I mind nor do I have the choice. You might say "Hey! Don't be like that! You can be anything you want if you try harder!". Yeah, you forgot to mention that being "anything" takes time, money, more money, discipline, and an environment that helps you thrive. Try living in a shitty apartment filled with problematic tenants, hell amount of rent, 6-12 hours of jobs till weekend where they are the only time you could at least take a breather from society's ideology about you as a worthless scumbag eating away space, air and resources that you worked wholeheartedly just to feel an emotion that is considered nonprofit which is happiness. Also known as a man. Yeah... right... I rather eat rotten human flesh than listen to that bullshit. I'm sorry if I'm not your usual happy-go-lucky, badass MC or some sort of giant screaming man wearing an orange outfit that turns Saiyan whenever he is powering up. I'm selfish and a hypocrite. Congratulations, you are talking to a human being. Oh, and did I mention that I like sarcasm? I would die without doing so. My name is Ishikawa Minato. And I love my life.

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
