I craved acceptance, approval, and love for most of my life. There was a time when I dreamed someone or something out there would take me away. All I needed to do was wait. It's time to wake up and stop dreaming. Be rational, I tell myself. Wishing on stars will only get you so far in this life. That was a brief time before him, before any of them. Task Force 141 changed my life; I'm unsure if it's for better or worse.

One moment you're free and loving life, not caring to think what you might be doing to hurt someone else or something else. The next, your whole world turns upside down and you question everything you ever did. The war began and yes, of course it's not my fault. People are just dumb, but what happens when you realize it might just be your fault, not the war, but the events afterwards. What will become of us if we don't change our ways ? Read to find out!! I look at the many graves around me-too many graves, too many casualties to this world. People I couldn't save, losses I'd give anything to not have to carry. Staring at the open grave before me, I recite, "Those who have crossed with direct eyes, to death's other kingdom, remember us-if at all-not as lost, violent souls, but only as the hollow men."

Another ordinary day. That's what I thought. Boring and normal. Until everything was flipped upside down. Kidnapped, tested on, and then set into a new city I've never seen with no clue what was happening, or why. Then my supposed dream reached into the realms of possibility. I could be a hero. The war has come and I must find out who I am, who my friends are, and who I really trust. I must believe in what I know, because if I believe in what is unknown, well, I might not be here for long. Do you ever doubt yourself? Ever get the feeling you're never good enough? For me, that's my life. That's how I feel. Every. Single. Day. So let's complicate it a little more shall we? Let's toss in a kidnapping, stir in being stranded on an island with a bunch of magical creatures, and season it with an amulet that gives you a second life. A war is coming, one that has been brewing for centuries and guess who they think the main ingredient to put an end to all of it is: me, Piper Hayes. Are they out of their minds?! I guess there's only one way to find out!

Waking up cold and broken, in a world that I don't recognize is dangerous enough but to try and figure out who you are -who you were- in the middle of a war could mean that death is just around the corner. With only the words written in an old leather-bound journal and the help from a few friends, I pray that I might one day remember all that was taken from me before it's too late.

Have you ever felt so lonely you believed there was nothing left for you? Stashed away, merely forgotten. I mean you could cry and cry, yet no one would hear you. At least no one you truly once loved. Being yourself can be detrimental to others happiness, and so you down play who you are. You devalue your beliefs, your morals fall short and that hollow rock turns into your Mirror. Do you matter anymore? Would anyone care if you simply disappeared? Could you find your way out of the darkness? Look Closer is one of my favourite quotes and so I'll use it as a guide to understanding the complex characters you're about to meet.

There is a war raging within me, a constant battle between what I know and what I feel. My priorities became a blur after you happened, and absence never felt so real.
