Every decade there is a trial held between the new generation of the covens to decide which will be the ruling coven for the next decade. Each coven selects the children who show the most potential to receive advanced training for the purpose of winning the trials. Valencia's father is the high priest of their coven and as such is forced to submit his daughter to this training or have his bloodline viewed as weak. But he isn't scared for Valencia, he's scared of Valencia. The stars showed a powerful prophecy on the night of Valencia's birth that made her father fear her as competition to his hold over the coven.

From an opposing coven is her strongest competition in the trial, Lucien. Despite being raised to hurt him in all the worst ways, she doesn't hate him. If anything he seems to hate her, which is fine with Valencia. Her favorite thing to do is put condescending boys in their places, and his attitude will make beating him in trials that much more rewarding.

A real enemies to lovers story and it'll be good I promise! They don't fall in love in .3 seconds I swear. It's really not entirely about romance though. I really want to focus on her own internal conflict. This book is serving as an outlet for me and as it grows I grow along with it
